This article is an Out of Character article relevant to Bravo Fleet's first 2023 Fleet Action, 'The Lost Fleet.' For an overview of Mission Briefings, please consult the main article.

Priority Tasks are non-unique Mission Briefings. Where Key Missions, Critical Operations, and Special Assignments are unique storylines in unique places, Priority Tasks are more story prompts which do not specify any unique locations or are missions multiple ships could undertake. While less-developed than other briefings, they provide more detail and guidance than the generic story prompts on the main campaign briefing.

Mapping the Frontier

The Deneb Sector remains one of the most rugged and unknown regions of Federation space, and the territory held by the Dominion and the Breen stretches even further. Your ship has been assigned to a survey mission in an area which may provide Starfleet with a strategic advantage.

Briefing

While Starfleet has been in the Deneb Sector for centuries, it is so distant and vast that huge numbers of star systems, stellar clusters, nebulae, and other phenomena remain unmapped and unexplored. But what was once of low interest for survey missions more interested in scientific curiosity or hunting for resources may now be of great tactical or strategic significance as Starfleet looks to understand the field of war. Your ship has been dispatched on a survey mission into the Deneb Sector to explore a system or phenomena that could provide a military advantage. Anywhere that can allow Starfleet to slip past enemy lines, hide forces, or draw enemies into an ambush could be vital against this numerically superior foe.

Key Points

  • This mission can be undertaken by multiple members completely independently - there is, after all, a lot of the Deneb Sector to explore.
  • This is a good mission for smaller ships and less-powerful scientific vessels who can venture into dangerous regions with no intention of engaging the enemy.
  • Map out a nebula, find a system that might make a good military staging post, assess a stellar phenomena that could be dangerous to the enemy - the choice is yours.
  • Further storytelling could arise in your crew figuring out not just what a point of interest is, but how, for example, a strange phenomena could be weaponised against the enemy.
  • Of course, this is a great chance for some Trek scientific shenanigans against the tension of war.
  • There’s no reason this storyline has to be scientific only. The Dominion and Breen are out there, and your ship may wish to avoid them. Or, what if they found your point of interest first?

Turn Back the Tide

Federation planets and installations across the frontier have fallen to the Dominion and Breen. They must be liberated. Your ship has been assigned to repel the invasion forces in one such location.

Briefing

The Lost Fleet came as if from nowhere and seized multiple worlds, stations, and facilities. Many were forced to surrender before they could bring their defences to bear, the Deneb Sector accustomed to protecting itself from Breen and Kzinti raiders, not a full fleet. But while the Lost Fleet attacked in force, it has begun to spread its ships out as it continues its offensive. This leaves many locations under its control vulnerable to being retaken by bold captains leading only one or two ships. Proceed to the captured world or facility, drive off the enemy, and free the people of Deneb.

Key Points

  • This mission can be undertaken by multiple members completely independently - there are lots of places in the Deneb Sector to be freed.
  • Because of its nature as a Priority Task, the target location should be relatively small - a spacebound facility, a fledgling colony with a population in the tens of thousands. Larger colonies have been accounted for.
  • You are free to design your target location, and even create a wiki page for it. Consider fleet canon pages like Arriana Prime, Galadkail Minor, Janoor III, Sevury, or the Nasera System for guidance. Anything you create will be member canon.
  • Your ship can race in, fight off what Dominion or Breen forces have been left, and save the day, but feel free to expand the idea - maybe sneak a team in ahead of the strike to sabotage from within, turn a planet’s automated defences against the Dominion, use all your guile and trickery to win the day.

Defend Deneb

Many locations in the Deneb Sector are under threat from the combined forces of the Dominion and Breen. From colony worlds to Starfleet defensive outposts to the border itself, locations both civilian and military must be protected. Save the people of Deneb, and stop it from falling to further violence.

Briefing

The Lost Fleet and the Breen show no interest in stopping their invasion, and will continue to drive deeper into Federation territory if not stopped. One location has been identified as a priority target, the Dominion or Breen liable to attack very soon. Your ship has been dispatched to shore up defences, and to protect this world or facility from being overrun - or improve border defences so the enemy can never get there.

Key Points

  • This mission can be undertaken by multiple members completely independently - there are lots of places in the Deneb Sector to be protected.
  • Because of its nature as a Priority Task, the location you are protecting should be relatively small - a spacebound facility, a fledgling colony with a population in the tens of thousands. Larger colonies have been accounted for.
  • You are free to design this location, and even create a wiki page for it. Consider fleet canon pages like Arriana Prime, Galadkail Minor, Janoor III, Sevury, or the Nasera System for guidance. Anything you create will be member canon.
  • This story can be about preparing for the enemy’s arrival as much as the fight itself. Bring supplies, materiel, and troops to shore up the defences. Scout out the area and make a plan for how to best fend off the enemy. Build defensive platforms, upgrade automated facilities with weapons, and build up the tension as your crew sees the enemy coming.
  • This story doesn’t have to be about defending a specific place. Border defences are made up of automated facilities, defensive outposts, and weapons emplacements. This entire mission could take place in space, with a ship building and repairing defensive infrastructure.

Eyes and Ears

You can’t fight the enemy if you can’t see the enemy. Your ship has been assigned to launch surveillance equipment or conduct intelligence operations along the border or even in enemy territory, in order to monitor their movements and forces. By use of remote probes, the study of findings on deep space telescopes, hiding in stellar phenomena, or physical infiltration, help Starfleet see them coming.

Briefing

Much of Starfleet’s regional infrastructure was damaged by the Lost Fleet, who attacked many worlds and locations before pulling back to a more defensible border. Now they plan on pressing their attack as they consolidate their alliance with the Breen. To know their next plan, Starfleet must monitor their fleets, their forces, their leaders, their movements. Your ship has been assigned to gather intelligence essential to this war effort, either by venturing into enemy space itself to conduct reconnaissance, or establishing networks of probes and sensor arrays to watch remotely.

Key Points

  • This mission can be undertaken by multiple members completely independently - there is a lot of intelligence to acquire.
  • Your ship could slip behind enemy lines and conduct surveillance directly, evading detection of enemy forces by whatever means suit.
  • Your ship could otherwise identify a border likely to be attacked, and establish a surveillance network through technology: launching probes, setting up sensor arrays, and establishing monitoring posts before sitting back to analyse the data as it comes in.
  • Physical infiltration of some location is also an option. The Dominion have conquered many worlds and Starfleet facilities - if you can slip officers aboard, maybe they could learn something?
  • Although about intelligence gathering, there’s always a chance for combat, or the risk of it, if your ship is in danger of being discovered.

Hearts and Minds

The Dominion launched a vicious assault on the Deneb Sector, but after this initial strike they withdrew to a more defensible border. Your ship has been sent on a humanitarian mission to help in the aftermath of one of these attacks.

Briefing

The Dominion have established a border they can defend, but they struck with lightning speed across the sector. Looking to gather information, weaken Federation morale, and destroy Starfleet infrastructure, they raided planets and destroyed facilities before leaving. Across the sector, civilian and strategic locations alike are in need of humanitarian aid and repairs. Your ship has been sent to one such location.

Key Points

  • This mission can be undertaken by multiple members completely independently - the Dominion attacked a lot of places that need help.
  • You are free to design this location, and even create a wiki page for it. Consider fleet canon pages like Arriana Prime, Galadkail Minor, Janoor III, Sevury, or the Nasera System for guidance. Anything you create will be member canon.
  • Your ship might be there just to help the people attacked, or you might need to repair a facility Starfleet is in need of. This is a good chance to show the aftermath of the Dominion’s merciless attack.
  • For added tension, what is the risk of the Dominion coming back? Do you need to repair defences so this place can protect itself again?
