Consisting of starships assigned to the Fourth Fleet's Task Force 47, Lakota Squadron is centered around its flagship, the USS Lakota, under the command of recently appointed Fleet Captain Keziah Nazir.

The Eridanus Gambit

Somewhere deep in the Beta Quadrant, along the tumultuous Federation border with the Gorn Hegemony, lies the enigmatic planet Eridanus. Eridanus, known for its strategic importance and valuable resources, has long been a symbol of stability and cooperation in the region. However, now, it has inexplicably fallen silent, raising alarming concerns within Starfleet.

With no communication or data transmission from the planet for weeks, the Federation fears the worst—an imminent Gorn incursion into the Eridanus system, a prospect that could ignite a powder keg of conflict in the already tense border region.

Amidst this backdrop of uncertainty, the newly assembled Lakota Squadron – the starships Lakota, Buran and Osiris – stands poised for its maiden mission—an exploratory expedition to the uncharted depths of the Thomar Expanse. The squadron, under the command of Fleet Captain Keziah Nazir, is brimming with anticipation for their journey into the unknown. New orders soon arrive, however, as Lakota Squadron is tasked to investigate the eerie silence of Eridanus and discern the truth behind its darkened status.

Squadron Composition

Formed in the aftermath of Frontier Day 2401, Lakota Squadron is composed of three starships capable of carrying out the various roles and responsibilities dictated by the mandate of the United Federation of Planets. The composition of vessels assigned to the squadron is such that virtually any objective can be completed, whether within the confines of Federation space, or far from safety in far-flung areas of the known galaxy.

  • USS Lakota, an Excelsior II-class heavy cruiser. When the Jupiter Signal hit the fleet at Earth, the Lakota crew succumbed to the Borg assimilation process. Dozens of the ship's officers were killed, including Captain Lorraine Thorn herself. Lakota suffered considerable damage and, once the signal was reversed, what was left of her crew guided the ship to Avalon Fleet Yards for repairs. At the conclusion of the repairs process, Fleet Captain Keziah Nazir was ordered to assume command and form the new Lakota Squadron as part of the Fourth Fleet's Task Force 47.
  • USS Buran, a Rhode Island-class science and scout vessel. Arriving at Avalon Fleet Yards for minor repairs and upgrades weeks before Frontier Day, Buran escaped events unscathed. During her refit, the ship underwent a massive crew overhaul and it was during this time that command was assigned to Captain Romaes Anjin, a seasoned officer known for his leadership and strategic prowess. The transfer of the Buran to Lakota Squadron of Task Force 47, the Pathfinders task force, marked a new chapter in her history. Task Force 47 was renowned for its missions at the forefront of exploration and discovery, making it a fitting assignment for a vessel with the Buran's capabilities.
  • USS Osiris, a Reliant-class frigate. Following the harrowing events of Frontier Day, the Osiris docked at Avalon Fleet Yards for much-needed minor repairs. This respite provided an opportunity for crew replacements and a change in command. With the USS Arimathea slated for decommissioning, Captain Giarvar Kauhn assumed the mantle of leadership, bringing his wealth of experience and leadership qualities to the ship.
